How To Stay Productive When Working From Home

Whether it be for your full time job, or studying for exams, working from home can be hard. With so many distractions it can be difficult to stay focused and on the right path, whilst resisting the urge to crawl back into bed and binge watch Netflix. Here are just a few little tips from me to you if you're struggling with getting work done at home:

How To Stay Productive Working From Home

Wake up early
It's easy to get into the habit of having a lie in, or sitting in your pj's all day, if you don't have to leave the house. I've found that having an alarm. getting up early, getting showered and dressed as normal, helps me massively. It sort of puts me into 'work mode' as oppose to 'cosy mode'.

Have a dedicated workspace
In order to get yourself into 'work mode', you need to have a workspace. That preferably means not your bed. I usually work from my living room, or if the weathers nice, I'll sit and work at the garden table. Keeping your workspace tidy can also help a lot. A cluttered area can leave you feeling stressed and unmotivated.

Make a to do list
Lists are my favourite thing ever. I recently started bullet journaling and it has been a life saver. You can read more about that in this post. I will usually make a list of the things I need to do for that particular day either the night before, or in the morning after getting dressed. Having your tasks written down and in physical view pushes you to complete them more. I often float between tasks, never full completing them. So a list helps me with that as I focus on one task at a time, making my way down the list.

Have a schedule
Knowing when your work best will be a big help.  I find I am the most motivated in the mornings, so I do the longer, or more difficult tasks then. Which leaves the smaller, and easier tasks for when I'm not feeling up to it. For you, you may find that you work best in the evenings. It can be easy to overwork yourself too though, so make sure you take regular breaks, and don't skip lunch. It's okay top stop working.
