7 Reasons Why You Should Travel More

Travelling is something I've always loved. Even as a child, I would get mega excited about things like spending a weekend away in a caravan at the lakes, or traveling a couple of hours down the country to explore a new city. This year the travel bug has hit me hard. After visiting Barcelona this year, I'm craving a new adventure.

No matter where you go or what you do, travelling can make you a happier and better person. Here are 7 reasons why you should travel more:

Give Yourself A Social Media Break
Social Media is all well and good, but sometimes it's nice to take a little detox. How many times do you find yourself at home checking your phone every two minutes, or mindlessly scrolling through Twitter? A lot of the time when we're in another country, we either don't have access to the internet because it costs a fortune, or we're too busy having fun to even pick up our phones!

Improve Your Physical & Mental Health
It's no secret that walking improves your physical health. And with plenty of new ground to cover, you'll be sure to feel the benefits. Travelling can also improve your mental health. I've found the busier I am, the less anxious I feel about a situation as my mind is 'distracted'. It can also relieve stress as you almost feel as if you're leaving any problems at home.

Increase Your Knowledge
Visiting new places allows us to learn more about native cultures, people, history and languages. One thing I always find interesting is discovering the different laws and regulations a place might have, in comparison to the UK.

Gain Confidence
There are various ways in which travelling can help you gain confidence. I know a lot of people feel less self conscious about their body if they go to a beach destination for example, as a lot of people are in shorts and bikinis, making them feel more at ease. It doesn't have to just be a physical thing though. For me, I get quite anxious flying, so the more I do it, the more confident I am that I can do it.

Experience New Things
There's only a handful of things you can experience in the UK. But what if you want more? What if you want to go skiing, or swim with dolphins, or go on a safari? There are so many more amazing opportunities out there!

Handle Money Better
One of the biggest struggles when travelling is managing your money. The majority of us have a spending budget when we're away. You will learn to cut back on certain things, and make your money last the entirety of your trip, you may even find work to earn more money. Whatever the case, learning to mange your money is a great skill to have.

Motivate Yourself
And finally, you will be more motivated than ever. This is where the whole travel bug thing comes to mind. Once you get back home, you'll be so determined to go on another fantastic adventure, you will push yourself. If you want something bad enough, you will do anything to make it happen.

Why do you love travelling? What skills have you learned whilst doing so?
