How to Spark Creativity When You're Feeling Uninspired

Since it's now September (can you believe it), I'm seeing everyone getting excited for Autumn & Winter. Even some shops have started to get Halloween decorations out, and even Christmas?! I'm going to let you in on a little secret.. I hate Autumn/Winter. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the holidays because who doesn't love Christmas? But, I find myself lacking motivation and creativity as the days get darker. In the Summer I'm so much more energetic and raring to go, which means this time of year I start to struggle.

This year it's going to be different. I'm going to do everything possible to stay inspired and motivated the same way I was this Summer. Here's how:

Go out More
Because of how bad the weather can get this time of year, I don't go out half as much as I do in Summer, which is understandable. But that can contribute to why I get myself in so much of a slump. Something as simple as taking a long walk can make you more motivated and ignite new ideas and thoughts. Just look at my latest post on Spending a Day In Durham, that was a totally unplanned post that was sparked from a little adventure.

Explore What You Enjoy
This may seem like an obvious one, but it really does help. Whether you're an artist, a musician, a writer, whatever the case may be, discovering others than share the same passion can give you that little push you need. For example, lately I've been feeling the most motivated in the evenings. Why? Because this is when I catch up on people's blog posts. Seeing the amazing content that's put out their, makes me want to create a new post immediately. Explore your genre, and the people in it!

Try Something New
The above phrase can seem scary, but it doesn't have to be. It doesn't have to be anything drastic or major, just something as simple as trying a DIY project can inspire you. Finding new passions, or new ways to express our existing ones can fill us with lots of new and exciting ideas. You may find a completely new hobby that you've never tried before, or discover a new style of painting, or writing. And if you don't, thats fine also. You still were inspired enough to try it in the first place.

Did you find the above tips helpful? How do you keep your creativity alive?
