Time Out! - Why It's Okay to Take a Break

I'm baaaaack! Okay so I know I wasn't gone too long, but not only have I been mia on the blog for nearly two weeks, but I've only been very quiet on my socials too lately. Basically I've had a very stressful couple of weeks. 

I've been looking like an extra from The Walking Dead recently due to an attack of the flu which I still can't seem to shift. My internet connection has also pretty much been non existent, meaning when I was feeling better I couldn't even get on my blog to create any content! And to top all of that off, my Instagram account disappeared for a while, my skin had a crazy allergic reaction to something and then yesterday the floorboards in my bedroom caved in.. so yeah, stressful.


Buuuut, that all aside, I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things now. 

I'm one of those people who hate taking time off, which is ironic since I'm a huge procrastinator. I think this comes from the constant need to feel busy. So when I am ill for example, and have to take a break, I feel extremely guilty and anxious about not creating content. 


Seeing all your fave blogger babes posting amazing Insta snaps and writing some fab blog posts is frustrating when you physically can't. I've always believed consistency is the key when it comes to being an influencer. Posting often and engaging as much as possible build relationships and drives traffic to your socials. So these breaks are extremely stressful for me. I worry about falling off the radar almost. Which in the grand scheme of things sounds silly as it's only a couple of weeks, but that's how irrationally my brain works.

In turn, the stress and anxiety doesn't get me back to full health and just makes me worse, and needing more time off. So, why do I feel so guilty for taking time off? 


Probably because it's drilled into us from an early age that the idea of 'not working' is a bad thing. In school, if you weren't head down in a book, working at a million miles an hour you were labelled as lazy, disruptive and even 'not the brainiest'. When in reality, there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking a break or taking things at a slower pace. It doesn't mean you're lazy, it means you recognise that you're not working to the best of your ability, and you need to clear your head.

One thing I can vouch for is that taking some time off, makes you more motivated than ever. You'll want to come back with a bang and blaze through your work. I've got so many exciting new ideas that I'm eager to get started on and bring to life. I'm more determined than ever to work my hardest this year.

Sometimes, a break is just what you need to get you back on track to success.
