20 Years of the Mud Mask & Why We Still Love Them

Can you believe it's been 20 years since 7th Heaven first released their Dead Sea Mud Mask?! Honestly, I've been using 7th Heaven masks for as long as I can remember. In my early teens I used to pick a couple up, along with an array of sweet treats, and a cheesy rom-com, ready for a girly sleepover. So in the era of the sheet mask, are we done with the traditional style mud masks?

It seems like every brand has hopped on the sheet mask bandwagon, and I totally get it. They're fuss free and mess free. I even talked about how heavily I rated the Tony Moly Sheet Masks. But do they really give our skin the detox we want? Not really..

Mud masks provide much more of a deep cleanse than sheet masks do, hence why you are only recommended to use them once or twice a week, compared to some sheet masks advising you can use them daily! The Sea Salt and clay found in the Dead Sea Mud Mask, will draw out impurities from your pores, leaving the skin as clean and fresh as possible. Not only that, but added Lavender Oil will help to soothe and de-stress for the ultimate relaxing evening.

I'm not gonna lie, I love both. Yes sheet masks, are quick and easy for a more regular pick me up, but when I'm having a bad skin week, I will always reach for a mud mask. Sometimes we need to take it back to basics with our skin and just use what works, instead of trying out all these new fancy products.

If you're still feeling a bit lazy and can't be bothered with the fuss of washing off a mask, 7th Heaven also have a Peel-Off version of the Dead Sea Mask. Peel-Off masks can actually be very beneficial if your skin is more on the dry side. Peeling off the mask removes dead skin cells, leaving a smoother, more soft looking skin texture. This particular mask also contains Chamomile to soothe and reduce any inflammations.

Which kind of mask do you prefer?
