Why You Should Consider Buying Antique Jewellery

As a society we are fascinated with objects that belong to certain eras of time. Whether it's classic cars, vintage magazines, or magnificent paintings, there are always collectors out there hunting for these highly desired items. And jewellery is no exception to that! Investing in antique jewellery is becoming more and more popular these days with people buying pieces from sites such as Carus Jewellery, and it's not hard to see why! Here are a few of the reasons you should consider buying antique jewellery:

It has a story
The most obvious reason to purchase antique jewellery is because of the unique story behind each piece. Take these gorgeous 18ct Gold & Pearl Earrings, the listing will tell you exactly what time period they come from. Owning pieces which are rich in history and are usually one offs is something pretty special. Not only that, but by owning these kind of pieces we actually become part of it's history as we pass them down to generations throughout the years to come.

The Value
Now when most people think of splurging on jewellery, it's usually because that piece will go up in value and make them a profit down the line - which is often true! Just like with classic cars, pieces that are highly sought after can be worth more later on down the line. Not only that however, but you'll often find you're getting an excellent price for the item when it comes to buying. Because the item has already been around for years, you're not hit with price increases to cover manufacturing, seller overheads etc.

It's more sustainable
To mine precious gemstones and metals it takes a lot of resources that actually make it very hard to produce premium jewellery in an environmentally friendly way. You'll also find that antique jewellery pieces are usually timeless and don't go out of fashion. In comparison to modern made jewellery which is made to be trendy and in fashion at the time so in years to come are often not desirable styles. Another thing to mention is that often these desired jewellery pieces are sold by smaller sellers or companies with a real passion for their craft and not large cooperations which mass produce pieces.

As you can see from the above, there are a number of reasons as to why you should consider owning and investing in antique jewellery. Personally I love the idea of owning a one of a kind jewellery item to love for years to come. Then in years to come, passing it down to family members to add to it's story and history. If you do choose to purchase any pieces please do your research and make sure you are buying from a reputable seller or website such as Carus Jewellery.
