A Guide to the Best Places to Eat out in Newcastle

With so many new and upcoming restaurants. cafes and bars popping up everywhere Newcastle now has more choice than ever when it comes to eating out. Even I have yet to experience all the new restaurants and different types of cuisine that are now on offer. Whenever we decide to eat somewhere new, I always book us a table in advance just to make sure the whole experience goes as smoothly as possible.

To book our table, we use Bookatable which is Europe's leading online reservation service and it couldn't be easier to use! Log into the app, or website and simply type in your postcode, or location and browse the list of restaurants, cafes and bars in your area. Once you've made your choice, pick a date, and time and it's as easy as that! And if you need some inspiration, here are some of my favourite places to eat in and around Newcastle:

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill

If you want to be treated to a signature steak as well as some timeless English and French classics, then Marco Pierre White's Steakhouse is the place for you. The restaurant is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, and you can even enjoy some Afternoon Tea too! Here you can expect each dish and cocktail to be of premium quality, with Marco's added unique flair. Not only that, but you can expect modern twists on some classic dishes such as the well loved 1970's Prawn Cocktail.

The Alchemist

The Alchemist bills itself as 'masters in the dark arts of molecular mixology and demons in the kitchen, so from that you can expect to sample some weird and wonderful creations! Inspired by the history as a frontier of the roman world, The Alchemist are masters at thinking outside of the box and conjuring up a range of cocktails and dishes that are presented in obscure ways. Here you'll find a twist on some traditional  British, Mediterranean and North American dishes to tempt your tastebuds.

Turtle Bay

One of my absolute favourite places to pop into for lunch is Turtle Bay which is described as a 'Caribbean Social'. Turtle Bay is all about capturing the heart and soul of the Caribbean so expect a fantastic range of authentic Caribbean dishes and drinks, which means one thing - Rum, Reggae, Jerk! To be honest it's the atmosphere of this place that makes me love it so much, everything from the music, to the decor really does transport you straight to the Caribbean!

Pizza Punks

There's no way I could make a list like this and not include a pizza place! Pizza Punks is a fairly new addition to Newcastle, and can be found on Grey Street. With 50 toppings to choose from, Pizza Punks pride themselves in not following the rules, and the freedom to choose whatever you want. And the best part, you don't pay more depending on the number of toppings you choose. For £11, and unlimited toppings, it's a bargain!

Harry's Bar

Located next to the Theatre Royal, Harry's Bar is a great option for a pre show bite to eat. Serving some classic British dishes such as Harry's Fish and Chips, as well as some international options like Lobster Risotto, Harry's Bar will leave you spoilt for choice. The lively venue still brings all the cosy vibes with it's interiors and wooden bar where you can sample some of the glamorous cocktails they have to offer!

Miller & Carter

And last but not least there's Miller & Carter which can be found in the centre of Newcastle. This popular Steak and Grill restaurant is definitley one that any meat lovers have to experience. Carefully sourced from British and Irish farms, you can expect to indulge in the most succulent of steaks. Miller & Carter also offer a range of other dishes such as Smoky Barbecue Ribs, Pork Fillet and other tasty options. And if you fancy yourself something sweet after your meal, they offer some fantastic hand crafted desserts that will hit the spot!
