5 of the Best Things to Do for a Long Weekend in Blackpool

Blackpool is somewhere that's kind of iconic amongst the UK. You could call it the go to destination for a UK beach staycation. And yet I had never visited until now! Often Blackpool gets a bit of a bad rep, but honestly if you're just looking for some simple family fun, it's perfect - especially after the lack of holidays we've had over the last two years! So for this trip, I wanted to make sure I ticked off every attraction on the list for a jam packed fun 4 days with the family. Here are the top things to see and do in Blackpool:

The Blackpool Tower

Kicking things off, the most iconic attraction at Blackpool is the Blackpool Tower. Inspired by the Eiffel Tower, the Blackpool Tower was built in 1891 and is just as beautiful. Inside you can find a range of things to do such as the classic Strictly Ballroom, Circus Show, The Tower Dungeon, a 4D cinema experience, and the Tower Eye Viewing Platform. We were all blown away by the 4D cinema which is an immersive cinema experience that takes you through the story of the Blackpool Tower. If you're visiting with kids, I can guarantee you they'll love this! Afterwards, if you are brave enough to venture to the top of the tower, you'll find the glass skywalk which makes for not only a perfect photo opportunity, but a stomach turning experience! The Blackpool Tower Eye & 4D Cinema tickets are priced fro, £13.50.

Madame Tussauds

Next up why not head over to Madame Tussauds for some more family fun. Madame Tussauds is truly somewhere everyone and anyone will enjoy with such a wide range of figures from Ariana Grande, to The Beatles. They even have created amazing designates areas such as the Marvel Zone which creates some fun photo opportunities for kids and any marvel fanatics out there. And their latest figure to be added to their huge collection is youtuber DanTDM so it's lovely to see Madame Tussauds keeping up with the times and catering to all audiences. Tickets are priced from £17.50.

SeaLife Aquarium

And just a couple of doors down from Madame Tussauds you'll find SeaLife Blackpool. This huge aquarium houses a range of exotic species such as Sea Turtles and Black Tip Sharks. The whole experience form start to finish is very immersive and enjoyable. Just passed the entrance you'll find rock pools for your children to learn about different species and have the opportunity to hold some of the animals. And of course the big attraction is the Ocean Tank at the end of the experience. This holds the infamous shark tunnel which is a must see for all ages. Being able to see the animals up close and swim all around you truly is magical and something you'll never forget. Tickets are priced from £16.

Blackpool Promenade

It goes without saying you can make your own fun pretty much anywhere, and Blackpool definitley is the place to do that. You and the family can spend hours of fun up and down the Promenade! In total there are three piers all of which are jam packed full of rides, games and food & drink outlets. Along the promenade you'll also find a large range of arcades, shops, restaurants and bars as well as things such as horse and carriage rides, tram tours and of course the lovely beach! If I had to recommend one thing to do here, it would definitley be Coral Island which is the largest free attraction in Blackpool and is filled with arcades and restaurants for a day the whole family will enjoy.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

And last but not least there is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I didn't actually get the opportunity to visit the Pleasure Beach this time, but have visited several times in the past and loved every minute of it. There's fun for all ages here with a host of family and thriller rides. Nickelodeon land is a great experience for the kids and often you'll bump into the characters so don't miss that photo opportunity! For the thrill seekers there are great range of rides to get that adrenaline rush such as the Big One - the UK's tallest rollercoaster! Tickets are priced from £28.
