One brand that I've always been dying to get my hands on is Kat Von D. After what seems like an eternal wait, Debenhams finally stock KVD, which means it's now easily accessible to anyone in the UK, hooray! The first product that I knew I had to have just for the sheer amount of hype around it, was the 'Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation'. This foundation is described as a full coverage, 24hr long wear liquid formula that evens out discoloration, hides blemishes and keeps you matte throughout the day.

So let's start with the basics, packaging. The foundation comes in a matte black box with the very detailed KVD logo on the front. The stunning gothic designs of Kat's work can also be found on the bottle. Now, the actual bottle is a little more unusual than the majority of foundations I've tried. The Lock It Foundation has no lid and has simply a pump. With no lid to unscrew and no way of getting into the bottle, the chances of your foundation becoming contaminated by any bacteria is at a minimal.

First of all, let's talk about the shades. I believe there are 30 shades available in total. I have to give credit where credit is due, the shade range is fantastic. I honestly think she has covered the full spectrum with these shades. Whether you have super pale or super dark skin I honestly think you'll find a match with this foundation. Moving onto formula. The formula of this foundation is extremely thick, I can't stress that enough! Pro's of the thicker consistency is that it provides you with the fullest of coverage. The only con is that you have to blend fast! It dries quick so work with an area at a time rather that dotting it all around your face. In terms of longevity I would say this is one of the best foundations I've tried, my only concern is it can leave your skin feeling a little dry. If you already have dry skin I would recommend applying a hydrating primer beforehand to avoid emphasizing those dry areas. Once applied, the foundation dries down to a matte, full coverage finish.

If you're looking for an intense coverage, matte foundation that is going to give you that flawless airbrushed look, then I'd highly recommend the Lock it Foundation. Or maybe if you struggle to find a foundation to match your skin tone. However, if you have very dry skin I'd maybe look into some alternatives, or prep your skin with a good moisturiser before applying. Overall I'm very impressed with this foundation and would repurchase in the future.

I have heard so much about it and always wanted to try it on. However, I have a really dry skin and as you said, it wouldn't be the best foundation for me then. Too bad. I'll find the best foundation for me later I guess ahah xx Corinne from Corinne & Kirsty

The only product I've got from KVD is her liquid lipstick and I'm in love with it. I'm always on the lookout for a good foundation and this one sounds ideal for me as I love full coverage and a matte finish!

I've only ever heard of her lip products so this foundation sounds amazing! I haven't tried a matte foundation yet but one day I will be brave enough to. Thanks for reviewing this! (:

I've heard so many youtubers and people talk about this foundation and it sounds like an amazing foundation. I don't usually buy high end foundations because it can be risky for trying to find the right shade but this is something on my list that I really want to invest into and try out! Loved reading this Terri!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had such a good experience. I'm always really nervous about foundations! I've never tried Kat Von D one, but I have seen very good review about this. Though I don't have much knowledge about makeup, but i recently did make up lesson by Lina Cameron . So I need to practice a lot and experiment new things. I will surely buy this one. Thanks for sharing your opinion! <3
