Mixing & Matching Fashion Styles

Are you tired of wearing the same outfit time and after time just because it matches? Do you long to combine your different styles of clothing in order to create a funky or quirky look? If so, this blog might be of interest to you.

A homecoming is a special occasion for all of us. Your friends might already have their outfits all sorted out with matching shoes, dresses and accessories. You, however, may fancy going for something completely different that may be completely off-the-wall to some people but may definitely look good on you. Generally speaking, you should be allowed to express yourself through your clothing and if that means opting for the uncommon combination, that’s your prerogative!

Clothing Combinations That Might Just Work:
Before we go any further, keep in mind that not all alternative clothing combinations listed below will suit everyone. If you like the idea of some of them, then by all means try them out at home. It may be wise, thought, to get a second opinion before you venture outside!

1. Sneakers & A Dress

This would certainly make you stand out from the crowd. Wearing sneakers with a dress is a relatively popular combination that can be adopted by most people if they wish to do so. Celebrities who rock the dress and sneakers combo include Dua Lipa, Kendall Jenner and Selina Gomez. The favoured colour worn by celebrities seems to be white with Adidas, Nike and Reebok amongst the brands worn. This is a relatively easy look to pull off and is suitable for wide range of casual and even semi-formal engagements.

2. Mixing Fabrics

This look is more complex than the dress and sneakers combo and you need to be very careful, but it can work. For example, white trainers with black leather trousers or a formal suit jacket with jeans work well for some people but not for everyone. You will need to look like you have consciously made the decision to dress like this, not just put on the only clean clothes you have left in the closet!

3. Grunge & Glamour

This is a look that some people manage to pull off very well and make a real fashion statement. A combination of scruffy leather jacket, killer heels and some well-chosen accessories with long sleeve homecoming dresses would look good on many ladies. This look would be a true winner providing it suits you!

Of the three above options, the dress and sneakers combination is by far the easiest to pull off successfully. Providing your sneakers are fairly new, (brand new would be better) there’s no reason why you shouldn’t go out to almost any event brimming with confidence, after all, if it’s good enough for world famous celebrities it’s good enough for you!

Experimentation is key to finding to an alternative look that suits you, with a good quality dress and a good pair of sneakers the world is your fashion oyster!

  3. Loved this post! I'm always breaking fashion rules and mixing up different styles, partly because I cba and don't really care, but also because I feel inspired by other people, especially on Instagram, that do it too.
