Five Products That Will Save Your Hair This Winter

Let's be real, looking after your hair can be a struggle. With so many different products, brands and formulations out there it can be hard to know what's best for your specific hair type, colour and style. For example, if your hair is curly you'll want to use products that maintain your natural waves and keep them looking bouncy and full. Or if you have a Balayage hair colour, you'll need to make sure the products your using keep your colour fresh without stripping out any of those gorgeous tones, and that your conditioner is extra moisturising to prevent your hair looking damaged.

And on top of all that, we have to take different factors into consideration that can change the condition of out hair, such as the weather. I know for me personally, in the winter months my hair can be a nightmare. Because of the damp weather I'm constantly battling to keep my hair sleek and frizz free. And not to mention how much dryer it seems to feel and look in the winter! Thankfully, I thin I've finally found my holy grail products when it comes to keeping my hair in tip top conditioner throughout the winter! Here are my winter haircare saviours:

Maui Moisture Hibiscus Water Shampoo & Conditioner

In the winter when my hair is at it's most driest, I want a shampoo and conditioner that is going to deeply hydrate my hair and keep it feeling healthy. However, because I have thicker hair I find a lot of formulas are too heavy for my hair and often weight it down and leave it looking and feeling a bit meh. The Maui Moisture Hibiscus Water Shampoo & Conditioner is an absolute life saver as it's a lightweight formula so makes my hair look and feel incredible, and most importantly super hydrated and moisturised. Oh and a big bonus is that it smells incredible!

John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum

As I mentioned earlier, one of the biggest problems I face during the colder months is frizz. The damp air means I end up looking like Monica from friends two seconds after I've walked out the door. If you're someone who is prone to frizzy hair like me, I highly recommend trying out the John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum. Simply apply sparingly to wet hair, focusing more on the ends of your hair rather than the roots, and leave to dry! Not only does it protect your hair from the humidity and eliminate frizz, but it smooths and hydrates your hair making it easier to tame. Seriously, I love this product so much I bought it in bulk so even have the older packaging still!

L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Hair Oil

Sometimes you notice that throughout the day, no matter what shampoo or conditioner you use you can feel your hair starting to feel a little dry again. For me, I notice this on the days where I've maybe styled my hair a bit more that usual, maybe with heat tools, or backcombing etc. When my hair needs just a little pick me up to get her through 'til the end of the day, I use the L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Hair Oil. This is a use whenever, wherever and however you want kind of product. The ends of my hair are the most dry and damaged so I apply a small pump into my palm and run my fingers through the ends to make them look sleek and hide those pesky split ends! The oil deeply hydrates the hair, acting as an instant pick me up, so you don't have to worry about your hair looking dry for the rest of the day!

TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protect Spray

Finally, this one sort of applies to all year round, but if you are styling your hair with heat tools please please please use a heat protecting spray! Straightners and Curling Tongs alone can cause significant damage to your hair, and without the proper protection put in place it can be hard for your hair to recover. If you are using such tools, you'll know that they really dry your hair out, so add in the weather factor, and you can be left with some frazzled looking hair in the winter! Using a good heat protecter spray minimises damage, and prevents breakages and split ends. There are lots of good heat protecters on the market, but my current favourite is the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Spray.

How do you take extra care of your hair in the winter?
